Description
Most people don’t know there are giant Californian redwoods a few miles outside Bristol. Big Tree Grove in Ashton Hill Woods, Failand, is exactly that – a stand of giant sequoias that feel completely out of place and utterly magnificent for it, especially on a foggy morning when the tops disappear into the mist and the scale of them really hits you.
Shot in black and white to make the most of the tonal contrast between the deep, textured bark and the soft foggy light filtering through the canopy.
Printed as a giclée on 300gsm Somerset Photo paper using archival pigment inks, with a 25mm border on all sides ready for framing. Available from A5 up to A0 – larger sizes work especially well here given the height and drama of the trees.
