It’s Henge, Jim, but not as we know it – fine art Stonehenge Milky Way print
Price range: £20.00 through £150.00
Stonehenge and the Milky Way, lined up on purpose during the Perseids meteor shower, with a stray torch beam from another photographer that made it even better.
Description
I planned this shot to line the Milky Way up behind Stonehenge during the Perseids meteor shower, working out the angle and timing in advance so it would sit right behind the stones. Summer 2021, clear skies, and it came together.
A thin mist rolled in while I was shooting, and then another photographer in the centre circle flashed a torch. That part was unplanned, but it sent brilliant shafts of light shooting out between the stones, like something out of a sci-fi film (hence the name…).
Getting Stonehenge, the galactic core and a bit of atmosphere all lined up in one frame is not something that happens by chance. Genuinely one of my proudest astrophotography shots to date.
Fine art print of Stonehenge and the Milky Way, printed on archival paper, available A5 through to A0 with a 25mm border for framing.
